Hey neighbor,
Quick heads-up before you lock in weekend plans.
Hurricane Isaias is heading for the Gulf Coast, expected to make landfall late Friday night somewhere between Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. The CSRA is not in its path, so this is not a hurricane hitting us.
What it is: a long, soggy rain event carried up on tropical moisture.
Here is the timing for Augusta and the surrounding towns, from the National Weather Service this morning:
Friday: cloudy and dry most of the day. Rain moves in after about 2 AM.
Saturday: the washout. Showers through the day with possible thunderstorms after 2 PM. Expect 1 to 2 inches, with gusts up to 28 mph.
Saturday night: more rain, another 1 to 2 inches possible.
Sunday: showers taper off by the afternoon, then partly cloudy.
Monday: sunny and 82.

All told, roughly 2 to 3 inches of rain between Friday night and Sunday night. Breezy but not destructive. No watches or warnings are in effect for Richmond, Columbia, or Aiken counties as of this morning.
Two things worth doing today:
If you have outdoor plans Saturday, line up a backup. That is the day to stay flexible.
Check the forecast again Friday. If a flood watch gets issued, that is when it will most likely show up.
I will keep watching it and update you in tomorrow's issue if anything changes.
Stay dry,
Jesus
